We rented a car for one day. No shuttle service so we had to get a taxi to take us to car rental.

Went on an excellent excursion to Waimea Canyon.

Kauai is our favorite island -- have been there on many occasions -- and we enjoyed walking the close area of the port. Would recommend taking an excursion for cruisers who have never been to Kauai.

Simply gorgeous! As we sailed up to the port we were greeted by Hawaiian singers and hula dancers. The sun was shining and waking up to hearing the peaceful music was priceless. I sat on the balcony and enjoyed this performance before we went to breakfast. We took a Lyft to the Wailua River and did the river cruise and fern grotto which was a beautiful, relaxing excursion. I booked this directly through the Smith Family site. On the second day we went to the beautiful beach which was a 10 min walk from the terminal.

Another cargo port but a nice area about 5-10 minute walk away. Great beach with gear to rent. We rented a car and saw the Waimea Canyon....amazing. Went to the Smith Family Garden Luau and that was the best food of the trip and a great show. Worth Every Penny! Day 2 we did the Islandhelicopters tour that lands at Jurassic falls and that was breathtaking. Spend the extra money for the Jurassic Falls landing. Everything was beautiful. Also hope to be back.

Good location. Did the plantation train excursion - very good

Book an excursion whether through Princess right away, especially the canoeing one. All the excursions we wanted were booked right away and there was a long wait list. You can get an uber/taxi to get to where you want.
