Third time, first booking an excursion. We went into the Valley Of The Kings, where it began to pour. They say the area gets 400 + inches of rain a year and it seems like we got half of that in 20 minutes. Next stop was at the Maui Plantation. Pretty touristy, but the tram ride was nice. They did a coconut husking demo which was fun.

We rented a car for the day to visit friends in Kula (about an hour from Lahaina. We took a LYFT to the airport as rentals were 1/3 of the price there . Coming back, we discovered that the city bus runs back and forth. The fare was $4 all day per person, while the LYFT cost $49 one way. Lesson learned. The tour desk n the ship knew nothing about public transporation.

this was my first tender, so that was exciting in itself. once in town, we walked about and looked in the many stores. there are many restaurants, and a beach to use if the weather is good.. it was late April and cool and actually poured rain so we headed back to the ship! I look forward to more time seeing Maui next trip!

Maui was our favorite Hawaiian port! So much to do here, one day is never enough! But we made the most of it and rented a car. We took a beautiful drive along the northern coast and went to Mamas Fish House for a light lunch. Although very expensive, you can’t beat the view and the beach! We spent the afternoon on the gorgeous beach and saw a huge sea turtle make his way down the beach to the waves only a few feet from us. A wonderful day!
