Great to have the overnight there. This gave us two days to explore. It was tendered, so took a while to get ashore. We did a 4 hour tour which to us half way to Hana, again viator... Great stops for pictures. Beware that some tours leave from the inheritance side of the island, which can take 40 minutes or more to get to and uber of $75

We've never tendered before, and we're not fans of tendering in the future. Probably due to Covid restrictions in Hawaii, there weren't very many excursion options through RC, so we made our own. During the cruise we were told that the port required an inspection that held guests onboard until 9:30-10am. For many guests, the delay disrupted non-RC excursion plans. The second day we weren't allowed to get off the ship until 6 a.m. (rather than the typical all-night, anytime release), so we were forced to book a night at a hotel to make our excursion reservation at 6:00 a.m. the following morning. If you're planning on doing the ride to Hana, beware of the late departure. There are two ports in Maui and the Lahaina port is far away from most of the key "must-do" activities. The road to Hana and the crater are both several hours away, so it can be difficult to find excursions that work.

Maui is a nice stop. It is a tender port. Plenty of chickens roaming around. Koholā is a nice brewery to visit. Great shopping at the outlet stores (although limited). Great food and of course beach! On another note, tendering on day one was a mess!! Long line at port awaiting tender back to ship.

I’m used to cruising in the Caribbean and being able to take a tour of an island for reasonably cheap price. Not so in Hawaii. Maui was a 2 day stop. It is a tender port. But it went smoothly coming and going. The first day we just toured the shops near the port. Had a delicious dole pineapple float, I think it’s called, and then the famous shaved ice. Honestly I enjoyed the pineapple float more. It was delicious. The second day we decided to look for a private taxi to do the island tour, which turned out to be as expensive as if we’d done a cruise sponsored excursion. Taxis all gave a going rate of at least $75/hr . Another cruiser said they were taken for 100/hr 😬. Anyway. Did a tour of Maui tropical plantation and saw turtles at Hookipa beach park

Really enjoyed the whale watching tour. Saw many humpbacks. The small town was cute and a good place to pick up gifts.

Very nice area, touristy with shops & restaurants - or you can venture out. We took the Atlantis submarine tour, and it was great. Real sub that goes to a depth of 132 feet. I'm a scuba diver, but my wife has never been underwater and seen the amazing views. We enjoyed it.
