Quaint town with great shopping. Take the bus for $2 and see the Ocean Institute. Eat the Ono at Captain Johns in the Lahaina Mkt Place off Front St. Take the glass sided "submarine" for $34. They put divers in the water to stir up some interesting critters for you. Atlantis is too expensive. The huge Banyan tree by the Courthouse is awesome. Snorkel at mile marker 13. Watch the thorns on the beach.

Having been to Maui many times, we chose to rent a car and drive around on our own. We found Budget will pick up the driver at the pier but we chose to take an uber to the rental desk about 7 mi away. They did agree to take both of us back to the pier when we returned the car. Lahaina is a quaint town and gets very crowed when there is a ship in port. So beware that if you end a tour, allow enough time for browsing in the crowds. We did not know that as a suite guest, you get preferential tender boarding and were pleased to have the suite manager pull us from the very long line to quickly board the tender.

Maui was my favorite port. There are lots of shops and the Maui Ocean Center was spectacular. This was also the only port where a Luau was offered, so if you have never been to one, you should go. However, Maui is a big tourist spot and had the biggest crowds. I was disappointed at this port because I had signed up for a zipline excursion through the cruise line. I was informed the night before that it was cancelled for lack of interest. When I arrived at Maui I tried to make alternate private arrangements but was informed these tours book up a week in advance.
