Didn't find as much to see in Kona, although the beach is amazing!

We decided not to book any excursions at this port. We purchased wristbands for the “Hop on Hop off” air conditioned bus and enjoyed seeing some of sites that were a little further out than we wanted to walk. The weather was much hotter and more humid than previous days so the bus was a great choice. There is a stop at a nice beach but we didn’t come prepared for beach time. This is a tendered port so going to the ship and back to the beach would have taken too much time. We enjoyed shopping at a couple outdoor markets and had a delicious lunch at the Papa Kona Restaurant and Bar.

We enjoyed Kona. It was nice that there was shopping that was close-by and that there wasn’t quite as much walking as the other ports. We rented an umbrella and chairs and enjoyed swimming at the little beach right by the waterfront. Kona is a charming little town.

Another tender but worth it to see a pod of several dolphines playing right off the dock. Another easy access beach right at the dock and the local shops and markets were right up the main street. It has a free trolley to hop on and off along the main town road. Made the mistake of taking a $35/person shuttle which stopped at 7 locations along the main road but only returned once an hr. Most of the locations could be walked too or accessed with the free trolley. live and learn.

Kona is small town with a summer Palace of the Kings, several historic areas, or you can snorkel at Kahalu beach.

Enjoyed the port. Could have spent 2 days in this port. Again went to observatory museum tour with lunch. Disappointed
