Took a tour to Sorrento and Pompeii...both were great stops. The pizza here wasn't;t as good as we'd expected, but the Delize Limone was amazing and made up for it.

We found it to be a bit hectic at this particular port. We have a private excursion scheduled and we had to take a shuttle from the cruise port to another terminal which was crazy busy and insane. Took almost an hour to find our driver and we were to visit Positano, Sorrento and Pompeii. Due to a late start of our tour, our time at the different locations were cut a bit short. That being said, the Amalfi Coast was just a beautiful as you see on a postcard. Visiting Pompeii was interesting because of the history but we personally didn’t feel the need to spend much time there. Overall we wish we had more time to visit these locations.

We did a half day excursion to Pompeii with Viator, it was about £55pp but this included your €16 entrance fee to Pompeii and many tours don’t, so check that before booking a tour. The tour was late leaving the port, the guide wasn’t holding a sign or anything so nobody could find him, then we also went to the station to pick more people up which delayed us even further, and what was supposed to be a 4 hour excursion ended up as 5 hours so I would be wary of using Viator again if I was tight for time. However our tour guide for Pompeii itself was absolutely brilliant, very funny guy called Mikel. I toured Pompeii years ago and this excursion was way more enjoyable. It’s definitely worth paying for a guided tour of Pompeii, brings it to life. Also wear sensible footwear, someone in our party wore flip flops and struggled a bit. And don’t assume it won’t be roasting hot in October!
