We didn't actually go to Toulon as we didn't realise that you needed to purchase a ticket to take the ferry to Toulon. We just walked around and enjoyed the area and had a beer by the water

The Virgin excursion was too fragmented- tried to do too much in one day. We crashed into another bus and the itinerary was interrupted, though there were no injuries. Virgin promised to "take care of us" but they have been minimally responsive.

we walked to the street market which is excellent, walked to the opera house, went antique shopping, enjoyed a coffee at the local community cafe, bought French table cloth overall felt safe

The Toulon port is not a first choice for a cruise, but from here we went on an excursion to exclusive St. Tropez. That city is very crowded with yachts and high-end stores, and is a bit pricey and lacking in traditional character. In the morning we stopped in the small town of Port Grimaud and took a relaxing local boat tour. That little village is quaint and fun to stroll. We would have preferred a more famous city to visit in the south of France, or perhaps to have headed to a beach. It was fun to practice a few words in French!

Met with shipmates for breakfast at the WAKE. Followed by a walk around the city that included shopping, sightseeing and lunch.

Nice, quiet town, but not much to do on a Monday.
