We went on the excursion. Enjoyed seeing the cathedral in Lamego. The scenery on the drive back over the mountains looking down on the waves and waves of grapevines terraced around the mountains was probably the most beautiful scenery I have every seen!

Great views from the Sanctuary of Our Lady and lot of steps if you wish, but you can ride. Great port wine tasting.

Mateus Palace and Gardens Tour. There was a 45 minute ride to a “palace”. The tour was done by a university student with terrible English. Many could barely understand him and when you could, his information was dry and boring. What a shame, as this seemed like an interesting place. Then we went to another Sandelman’s winery. The tour was interesting, but frankly a repeat of the other day’s tour at Sandelmans in Porto and the “tasting” was of a mixed drink with port in it.

This port was mostly a docking port, we took buses to the attractions. We did enjoy the visit to Lamego.

Very interesting church and great wine tasting. Really remote. Was not going expecting such a lovely day.

After listening to description of Favaios Basket & lunch at Quinta Avessada, decided to stay on boat & cruise. Docked overnight. Celebrated NYE on boat. Enjoyed the fireworks at midnight that some locals set offed.
