the way to get here is tricky. It was Sunday and no one to help at train station and then we hit a bike race in town. Better details would have been helpful but getting there and seeing the Millenium Bridge open and close, was the highlight of the day.

We were there on a Saturday and were lucky to be able to visit a terrific flea market at the beautiful, old Victorian Tynemouth train station. Then we took a train to Newcastle. Newcastle was interesting and had a lot of churches. Our biggest problem was that when we took the train back to Tynemouth, the train stopped because of stuff on the track, and we had to wait about an hour and barely got back to our ship on time. We barely missed the shuttle from the Tynemouth station to the port, and a kindly flea-market vendor drove eight of us back to the port. We barely made it on time before the ship sailed.

A complimentary shuttle bus took us to Tynemouth for metro into Newcastle. We walked over all bridges and visited Sage centre and Baltic Wharf. Newcastle castle well worth a visit.

We took a tour of city highlights that was average.

Very good facilities, well organised

We got to dock here, as well! A short walk to the train station, we were greeted by friendly people who assisted us in navigating how to buy tickets and where to get off to visit the downtown area. It was a short ride, where we ended up smack dab in the middle of the city. We decide to repeat our good fortunate in Edinburgh, and got a Hop On Hop Off Bus tour. Great decision! We took the one hour bus tour, and then prowled around near where the subway train station is. I was impressed with all the bridges, along the river.
