As a port, there is not much to do. I would recommend just taking a walk around because it is a beautiful place. When we went, there was nobody around and just tourists, a little eerie but cool. Beautiful landscape views. Not much shopping around, you just go for the scenery.

We absolutely loved Iceland! We did another whale watching tour here and it was exactly what I wanted - small boat with maybe 12 of us and the 2 pilots. We had to put on full all-weather suits. The seats on the boat are more like those on a bike or motorcycle - you straddle it and there is a metal bar to hold onto. The whales are within 10-15 feet of you. We were there on a rainy and round day - still saw several whales and had a blast. We went out in the morning and the afternoon tour was cancelled. Not for you if you don't like to get wet. The city itself is great! We found a great cafe for cappuccino and a muffin before the tour and went back for lunch afterward. Lots of nice shops and a great brewery close to the wharf.

Probably my favorite stop. No excursions as we plan to go back to Iceland to see the other sites. We walked in the town and went to the museum by the Visitor's Center. Then went to the restaurant next to the museum. The brewery is great (they also have food) if you enjoy local beer.

We did a tour that took us thru under water tunnels to visit 3 islands and another waterfall. Great day!

We took a Holland American excursion to Vigur Island. The island is owned by a couple & their young son. It was amazing - we would go back there again.

Took the Vigur Bird Island which we had been to before. I would recommend that or the excursion to Waterfalls. Nice walkable quiet town..

We took a rubber inflatable boat to go whale watching. I had not been in an RIB before and didn't realize we had to straddle the seat. Being 5'3" I found it difficult to get my leg up and over the seat. The ride was uncomfortable. The excursion experience let us to believe we might see several types of whales, but upon arrival at the boat we learned that they rarely see anything but humpback whales.
