When you are here the first time, definitely take the train. Another great shore excursion is a visit to stegastein viewpoint

Flåm was really cool. The Flamsbana train was great. The stop at the waterfall halfway up was impressive. It takes you up to the Vatnahalsen Hotell, where we were served waffles with jelly and sour cream. The scenery up there is amazing. My advice here would be to book this through the train company as the cruise ship excursion was packed and they slightly overbooked it. Was tight in our car. The station is a five minute walk from the ship. There is a zipline too which we didn’t do but looked incredible. Those that did it say you rent a bike at the end of it and ride down. For beer drinkers don’t miss the Aegir brewery, get a flight and sit in the beer garden.

Norway in a Nutshell. Beautiful stop. Took the train. unfortunately trip was shortened due to RC changing the scheduled day. Would have loved to stay longer

Again, a small town at the end of a fantastic fjord. We did not do an excursion here, but enjoyed the outstanding scenery

Booked the “Leisurely Flam Railway” ship excursion. They did switch this port with Alesund. And cancelled our 4 hour train ride. BUT this is a must see. The Kjoxfossen Waterfall was beyond amazing, and a girl in a red dress dances up on the hill. You actually stop there twice - going & coming. I did the little $20 train first that was in the parking lot. Nice segwey into the big train. There is a free train museum at the platform. Flam has only 350 inhabitants, so cute and they waved goodbye to us!! Definitely want to come back here.

It’s really a beautiful town. Norway in a Nutshell was ok but again, a disappointment.
