Hiked to the top of the mountain and rode the cable car down. Incredible views at several points on the hike. Took approx 90 minutes to complete the hike. It’s a bit physical but totally worthwhile and memorable. The restaurant at the top of the mountain is cozy and very nice. The view is stunning.

Surprised us. Thought we’d just walk around a bit. Instead we bought a return ticket for the cable car independently of the cruise line. It’s right by the key side and appears pretty much new. A smooth ride to the to afforded spectacular views and the freshest air imaginable.

Excellent tour in the scenic railway and visit to the troll wall. Small town but nice to walk around and have coffee and waffles. ....................

Nice town but not much to do if you don't have an excursion like us. We were just walking around the centre of the town a bit and that was it. It seemed like a tourist town with not a lot of residents.

Åndalsnes is stunning and lovely to visit. It is also a good base to head out into the surrounding mountains and towns/villages such as Molde. If you have time take a trip on the Rauma railway for breathtakingly stunning views which the train slows down for and includes Trollveggen. Travel as far as Bjorli station which is popular for those into skiing as the area has the most consistent snow fall (October to May) in the country. Åndalsnes is on my list to come back to in order to see the rest of the sights and to take in the mountains and fjords once again.

Do the Rauma Railway trip do not book it as an excursion it’s over priced. Simply walk to the station and book a return ticket. I preferred this trip to the more famous Flam railway which I thought was grossly over rated compared to my Swiss railway journeys.
