In Naples you can just walk right off the ship, and very near the port is Castel Nuovo, which is undergoing major construction. It’s going to be a major attraction once finished for visitors. Naples is very walkable. We stumbled across Galleria Umberto, a dazzling beautiful building with amazing tile mosaics in the floor, and high, arched ceilings. Then we decided to head up to another “castle” up the hill, called Castel Sant’Elmo. I think we paid 6 euros to get in and the place is HUGE with AMAZING VIEWS (I wish I could add photos to this review because it’s BEAUTIFUL). Attached to it is Certosa e Museo di San Martino (included in ticket price). Tucked inside one of the many rooms is a pretty cool modern art museum (included). The walk back down was on narrow, winding, cobblestone streets filled with scooters and tiny compact cars zipping around, and many walkers. We stumbled across Chiesa Della Pieta Dei Turchini, a beautiful, small church that was open. Lots of shops and restaurants.

We did an excursion that took us to Sorrento and Amalfi. It was a great day.

Wish we had more time, it was only a half day.

we never went on any excursions, we explored each port on our own.

One of my favorite! We took a small group tour up the amalfi coast! It was amazingly beautiful! We. Saw where the Godfather was made and some James Bond movies and more. The mountains and the sea are just amazing and the small little towns along the way are just incredible!

Naples itself is unimpressive, dirty. Must eat pizza here. If you don't do a tour to Pompeii or elsewhere, just get pizza near the port and then get back on the boat

We visited the St. Gennaro catacombs (booked with get your guide) and toured the city on our own. The catacombs were impressive, but the tour group was very large and you could barley understand the guide. If you are really interested in the history of the catacombs google it before the tour and you will enjoy it much more.

Don't get me wrong - Pompeii was fascinating and beautiful, but Naples is an economically depressed area. Garbage everywhere, graffiti, buildings in disrepair, shanty towns... It was truly a sad sight driving through it. If you're getting off the ship in Naples, pay for an excursion.
