We did Rome first on our own so I can't say we did a shore excursion. There's so much to see and do there that it's worth a visit.

It's all about Rome. Not the first time in Rome so I did not look forward to visiting the city again. Had some people in our group who had not been in Rome before. Lots of pan handlers, and other pesky folk trying to make a buck. Sights are nice, of course but the city is very dirty, crowded and polluted. Still a nice outing for first-timers; just know that what to expect. Train-ride from the port takes about an hour and a quarter. NCL provided shuttles to the train station and back.

Did the same tour company in this stop too. We wanted to see Coliseum, Vatican City, Sistine Chapel and Trevi Fountain. Tour company arranged all tickets all we had to do was show up. Did not plan lunch stop as we were so constricted with time but had a quick sandwich and pizza on the run. Tour company had us back to the ship in plenty of time. If you have multiple people it is much cheaper to go privately than thru Royal Caribbean. It cost us 365 euros per couple and I believe Royal Caribbean was $254.00 per person.

We took an excursion that gave us a bus tour through Rome, time spent at the Trevi fountain with walking tour to the Pantheon and then time at the Colosseum. After we went to the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. We had no lines at any site, learned and saw a lot. It was expensive, but well worth it!

Well laid out. Review and confirm travel time from the port to the Rome airport. We were told by NCL that it would take over two hours. Also we were told that we COULD NOT get off the ship before 8 AM. Nevertheless, many of the local people we talked with said it was less than one hour from port to airport - we made it in 50 minutes. We were through the inspections and on the pier at 7 AM!

We went to St. Peter's Basilica and the Colosseum. Would have loved to have had enough time to also go to the Vatican. This port is a must return!

Its our embarkation and disembarkation port. 1 hour drive from Rome city. We ordered private transfer from Civitavecchia Shuttle Express (drivers are always early and help with our luggages).

It's a long drive to Rome/Vatican. We took a pre-arranged car service.

We were able to join the papal audience which to me is the highlight of our trip. Must purchase skip the lines tickets to Vatican and Sistine Chapel as well as Colosseum.
