We spent 3 days in Rome before the cruise and enjoyed every second. We used aviator with no issues to tour the Vatican, Coliseum and Roman Forum. NCL used Golden Tulip Piram for our room.

It’s an old town, with good food. It’s easy walking distance to the port from the train station or near by hotel.

The cruise port itself was O.K., however it is also quite amazing as a gateway to Rome. We used the hop on / hop off bus to explore the many must see many of the historical landmarks.

Stayed 3 days in Rome before boarding the ship. Did the Colusseum with Palestine Hill and the Forum., Vatican with Bascillica and Sistine Chapel, Rome by Golfcart, night time photo tour, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, shopping. Rome is amazing! Metro easy to navigate. Highly recommend pre booking of any tour in Rome as the ticket lines are extremely long (trust me, do a skip the line tour…. Totally worth it! )

We were able to do Rome in a day with “The Tour Guy” tour company. 7 hour walking tour in 36 C temperatures was daunting but a great overview of all the great sites. I highly recommend them.

Not enough time in Port, Rome is so far from the port that it was very limiting, we took the train in as did quite a number of other people, and there was a train strike, and many people were late getting back to the ship …but luckily the ship waited 2 extra hours for passengers. In the future, I would stay in the port town and not go into Rome.
