We embarked and disembarked here but did not explored the town beyond catching transportation back to Rome from there, we came across nice people and the vistas were nice. Is a bit of distance to the embarking terminal so make sure you arrange transportation to and from.

Civitavecchia itself hasn’t got a lot to offer. We stayed overnight to be in plenty of time for the cruise however, Rome is an amazing city which is impossible to see in one day. It is about 1 hour and 20 minutes away from the port.

This is a must do port if you've never done it; we flew in a few days early so we could visit sites on our own time which I highly recommend. You just can't see what you need to see with a single excursion.

Rome was excellent, we booked the hop on hop off bus. It took us to pretty much everywhere we wanted to see. Only issue is that the stops are about 5 or more blocks from the locations. Found this little hole in the wall restaurant by the fountain. The food was excellent. If you have never been to Rome prepare yourselves, the drivers there are absolutely crazy nuts.

I've been to Rome many times and for extended stays. It's always a joy to reunite with the city. We did not take an excursion but explored by ourselves. The only real issue is the distance to port from Rome but everyone makes that work for the adventure of the city.

Rome was extremely crowded and it was hard to keep up the the guide. I did the Coliseum and Rome highlights. The Coliseum was worth it and amazing to see.

We did the Royal Caribbean "Best of Rome" excursion this day. There is just so much to see in Rome! I found Rome to be somewhat of a dirty city with a lot of trash around, cigarette butts everywhere, etc. Overall it was a beautiful excursion (included The Vatican, The Colosseum, St. Peters Basicla, The Trevi Fountain, etc. We walked 7 miles that day.
