One-of-a-kind destination, a small post-war town that is rebuilding and striving to attract tourists with kindness to help them discover the riches of their country. We took the excursion to see the fort and the Blue Eye.

Butrint was educational, but one must love history and ancient ruins to appreciate it. I wished we had more time in Sarande. Our guide marched us back to the ship by 1:00 when in fact we could have stayed ashore longer because the ship did not leave until 5:00. This was owing to (another) miscommunication.

Never thought I'd visit Albania unless I was a spy or POW. Good on them for realizing that they have things to show the world. Did Blue Eye and castle excursion--quite a bit of hiking!

We did Magnificent Blue Eye and Lekursi Castle excursion with NCL which also gave priority tenders. The port itself didn’t look very inspiring and the traffic to get out was horrendous. But the hair raising drive to the castle was worth it - more amazing views and dodged the rain. After the old church, we went to Blue Eye - a fantastic series of springs with water so clear, and a very picturesque drive to and from. Our guide Alma was excellent

This port was a bit of a waste of time. There is not much here at all, a bit like stepping back into the sixties but not in a good way. Most vendors accept euros, but be aware that you will receive the change I local coinage.

More primitive than other parts of the country we visited previously
