Santorini was beautiful, and we enjoyed our time there. Thought it was very, very crowded and did not know how to plan for wait times to get back to the ship.

I love Santorini and have been there before but you can't enjoy it when there are 4 cruise ships in port and there aren't ways of getting everyone up to thira from the tender dock efficiently. There needs to be a better way than slow cable car lines and donkey trails. Why cant more people be dropped off at thira's ferry port and bussed to various places on the island. Santorini is gorgeous but the logistics of getting up and down from the tender drop off ruin the experience. 😞

The only down side was the long, hot line for the water taxi to get back on the boat

Good for photos. Limited good stuff at shopping. You may pass out on the stairs up as several in our group did.

Loved it!

Too crowded. Cable cars broke down twice that night and we left out of port late due to this event.

This could have been a highlight of the trip to Greece, but it was so poorly planned and executed that it ended up being the most stressful. We had a great hike up Nea Kameni, the active volcano. Our guide was attentive and informative. He took us back so we could ride the cable car to the top-- and see the gorgeous sunset. Unfortunately, there were about 5 cruise ships at the same time so the little island had a LOT of people. The line for the cable car back down was a TWO HOUR wait-- most of us would miss the last tender back to the ship. Soooo... everyone had to make the trek back down using the 588 steps--old, young, people with canes and many others leaning heavily on the arms and shoulders of others. Since this is also the way the donkey ride gets up and down, everyone is trying to maneuver the rocky stairs without stepping in the piles of donkey dung. It's not a successful effort so after the 30 minute wait in line for a tender, the smell of Santorini goes back with you....
