Loved this port except for getting to the town. Must either take the cable car, walk 600 steps, or ride the donkeys. But worth it when you get to the top.

Let me start off by saying this was the port that I looked forward to the most. What I experienced makes me never want to set foot on this island again. 1. There were 4 or 5 ships in Port on this day. This made the day unbearable with the amount of people they shoved on this little island. 2. We took a RC excursion that was just the worst. We started out at the Ruins which we could have done in 45 minutes, but the tour guide talked soooo much that we spent nearly 2 hours in an unairconditioned building looking at crumbling rocks. Then she gave us 5 minutes to get a snack and drink, bathroom but we couldn't bring drinks or food on the bus (the air was nearly nonexistent on the bus). Thn off to Oia, in which she said we had an hour. However, it took ten minutes to walk up the hill and 10 minutes back down to the bus so that gave us 40 minutes. We only had time to sit down and have a drink at a restaurant and walk a couple of shops on our way to the bus. Back on the bus to Fiera and then we walked a good 20 minutes up hill to the center of town trying to get through shoulder to shoulder crowds. Then, stand on line for over an hour for the cable car then wait in line for tender. 😵‍💫 Never again...

We were scheduled for a boat tour that was canceled at the last minute due to weather. We were able to find a different one that was fine, but not what we originally planned, We hiked the caldera; swam in the 'hot' springs (warm and sulphur rich); stopped at a smaller island for lunch. It was a pleasant day. The problem is that I really wanted to go to Fira and on to Oia. We didn't have time before our boat left from the bottom of the road, so we thought we would go after- we had hours. However, our boat returned at the same time as a large Norwegian ship arrived and the lines for the cable car were very long. We decided to go back to the ship, get cleaned up and return- hoping the lines might be down by then. Nope. They were worse! Another ship had docked and the line extended down the entire street. It had to be hours long. We did the calculation, and even if we made it up, we would never have time to see anything and fight the crowds to get back down on time. A huge disappointment. They need to figure out a way to increase the number of people that they move up the side of the cliff or restrict the number of people in port at one time.

Beautiful; however, like someone else mentioned on facebook, don't expect to see the blue roofs everywhere. The blue roofs are for churches. We did a nice excursion. Word to the wise take the tram back to the ship, unless you want to walk thousands of steps, which are uneven and in some places very hard to manage. Don't forget that you'll have to share the stairs with the donkeys. It's a LOT further down then you think... do your homework, which I did not do.... and regretted it.

our shore excursion was cancelled at the last second, an hour lines to go to the top reason why we had to opt to go up with the donkeys where we had an accident and we did not make up to the top as we were dreaming to see Santorini highlights. very disappointing experience.

NCL excursion was good. Santorini was pretty but over crowded. Worth seeing once, but wouldn’t go again.
