Not enough time to see it all. Must take an excursion if you have never been. So many historical sights and you will not have time to scratch the surface of the bazaar.

Got caught by scammers using the metro. They blocked the ticket machines, so you could only buy through them. Security did nothing. Bet they were getting a backhand. The mount lost was the difference between bulk buy and individual tickets, about €2.50, so not huge. However the city was great. Just walked past the two mosques and theTopkapi and then through a lovely shady Park. We have been here before, so didn't do an excursion.

We visited the Haggai Sophia and Blue Mosque, a carpet demonstration, and then to the Grand Bazaar. The mosques were beautiful. I wish we would have skipped the carpet and went to the underground Roman tunnels. But we were given a carpet demonstration that felt like a time share sales pitch. It was a few moments of watching a lady work on a rug. Then we were ushered into a room where the sales pitch really turned on. At least it was air conditioned. We finished at the Grand Bazaar. It was so fun. It got a little repetitive. But we still enjoyed it immensely. Istanbul was a great stop with a great guide.

A beautiful, interesting city. However, be careful choosing an excursion. A significant amount of walking and standing is required. Breaks were minimal. Most people on our excursion noted that it should have been labeled "strenuous" not "moderate."

We did an excursion (non ship) that included a Bospherus river cruise and a tour of the old city. It was very interesting and informative. I found the Roman cistern to be very interesting.
