Took off on foot. Finished the day with a little over six miles walked. Picture opportunities are everywhere. From the fort we walked up through La Perla community where the video Despacito was filmed. After looking down into the community we thought twice about going down there. They are still hurting from the hurricane also. Everywhere else we went in old San Juan we could not have felt any safer

All cruise lines insist on stop in Old San Juan (the ugliest place of PR). But the best part of Puerto Rico is on the Southwest and West side of the island (Lajas, Parguera, Cabo Rojo, Boquerón, Aguadilla, Rincón, Mona Island). Beautiful beaches, water sports activities, great food, affordable prices, bio bay excursion, exotic marine life (whales, sharks, dolphin you name it). The cruises lines, still failing on the real route of Puerto Rico.

Always great! Love the vendors, locals are great here. Easy to navigate and great food. Went to Sombras for espresso (strong and free WiFi), Barrachina for pina colada (delicious), daughter had to have Senor Paleta too. Bought lots off local candy and snacks from vendors near ship. Tip: go up the escalator in the cruise port to the liquor store, duty free, got 4 bottles cheap rum $10. Can personalize ur Bacardi bottle here for free if u purchase here.

We walked to Castillo de San Juan Cristobal (easy walk but uphill) and paid US Park Service admission to tour the fort. Well worth the $7 for admission. Afterwards, we walked through Old San Juan and had lunch at one of the local restaurants. We had a great time, and the walking was safe and easy.

Wish we had 2 days here. Lots to see in a short amount of time. Forts were amazing to tour. Old San Juan is very nice as well. We walked the entire city and though tiring, it was worth walking to see all the little details one missed on a tour. Will definitely revisit here either via plane or another cruise.

The locals were celebrating St. Sebastian Day when we were there. It is an annual celebration that draws lots of people. We walked a lot on our own and also were able to see the St. Sebastian parade-fun. Not many times do you get to experience an authentic island celebration. Many food venders and musicians were setting up for the evening.
