There’s a big water park right off the cruise ship. I recommend just sitting near the Amber Cove letters and drinking a bucket of Presidente beers.

Our family split up when we were there in December. We had the Ocean World Day pass, Ocean World Swim with Dolphins and A Taste of Culture, Rum & Dance. All were great! My husband and I will be back in February and may just go to the pool at the port this time.

Take a look at La Casa en La Playa. It is a day at a private home on the beach. Good food and drink.

This past May we did the "Private Van: Your Day Your Way" through Carnival for $300/vehicle. The van seats up to 10 people for that single price, which includes a driver & tour guide. We went to Puerto Plata, you do need to pay admission at some attractions when you arrive, but if some in group don't to want to they can stay w/ the driver in the van's a/c.
