just depends on if you want a pool or beach really. but Puerto Plata is very welcoming and safe. we went to the beach at Jack Tar last time, it was great and no day pass required, just buy your food/drinks from the restaurant there.

We just did a pool day there 3 weeks ago, we enjoyed it more than a beach day we did previously. Get off the ship early if you want chairs with umbrellas, or purchase VIP chairs

Lots of great shopping at port , pool and lazy River are great, zip line and swim up bar, food and drinks. We don’t leave the port, we did once and it’s not a nice place

Consider La Casa En la Playa - A Select Retreat. We have been there twice and were treated very well both times. There are a few good YouTube videos about it that you can check out

If you don't have anyone to guide you out of the cruise port stay there I'm getting someone to pick me up and do some stuff going ti eat fry fish it's the best and going to do el teleferico and doing some shopping , enjoy
