4.2
Do we have to have an excursion planned in order to do anything? Can we just get off the boat and walk around? Is there a free beach?

Currently there are no super special Covid restrictions at this port, so even unvaccinated children can disembark here without a planned excursion. Carnival offers a free to their passenger resort style pool use here, lounger use is included. The local beaches tend to be very very rocky and currents near shore unpredictable.

In Amber Cove, they have a free pool to the right when you walk off the ship. There’s a restaurant that plays music and does pool games. There are free slides and it has a resort feel with lifeguards. There’s a Zipline for $20/person and you can go as many times as you want all day over the pool area. There are hammocks off to the right. You can rent a poolside cabana and also an over the water one in the ocean but there’s not a beach there. We loved it there!

There is a small public beach to left of port. Go to the Amber Cove website and you can inquire about it and they will even give you directions for the 10 minute walk to get to it.

We went on the carnival catamaran excursion. It is the most fun thing I have done on a cruise. We don’t normally do excursions through carnival, but would highly recommend this one.
