We weren’t going to get off the ship, but the shopping on the pier in Falmouth looked so lovely!! The people get pushy in Jamaica. Be ready to barter and if the price isn’t right walk away. The next vendor will cut you a deal. Nice woodworking prices. Fun Caribbean shirts. Wait to get your jewelry. Tasty patties are interesting!! Also- there is almost no Mountain Dew in the Caribbean- get your caffeine somewhere else!!

My favorite port. I was hesitant because of all of the negative reviews, however nothing could of been more untrue from what I read. We did “a place in the sun” through royal Caribbean. Taneesha or “momma T” from chukka picked us up at the end of the port and gave us a very informative and interesting run down on the area on the way to doctors cave beach. The beach was BEAUTIFUL. In my opinion, prettier than grand Cayman’s seven mile. There were a few ladies who wanted to braid hair on the beach, but we gave a nice pass and they left us alone. The food was affordable and the drinks were good. From there we went to the hip strip and margaritaville in montage bay and it was fun. They had an obstacle course in the water as well as a slide coming off the restaurant. I never once felt scared, or unsafe. I saw folks picking up trash on the road and it looked incredibly clean. I loved it here!

We constantly heard “don’t go out of the port it’s dangerous”. Soooo , we went outside the port and thankfully we did it was amazing. As soon as we went out the gates we met a guy called Rasta. These guys stand right across the street with a sign saying, Ask Me . He gave us a walking tour and didn’t even ask for money or make us buy stuff like the ships tell you. He showed us around all the streets and even a cool fishing beach with these makeshift huts. The people are amazing offering us water (for free) and showing us how they live and the lifestyle. Yes we did tip this guy but $30 to see everything downtown and to have Rasta as a guide was great .we had the best “Real” Jamaican experience for sure at a port that gets a bad name.

Do not miss the Martha Brae River Rafting trip. It is a 90 min slow ride down the Martha Brae river, the captain for us it was #26 Cecil was amazing. He told us about the history in the area and at the end of the trip we purchased this beautiful piece of artwork that he made out of the Calaba fruit.

This was my favorite port! I was impressed with the area; it was very clean and classy. The excursion was so much fun as well. We kayaked and spent time at the beach and had the best jerk chicken! So much fun!
