We spent the morning at the beach in Philipsburg and checking out the shops. Then we took a local bus to Marigot on the French side. We had lunch at Arhawak, a nice outdoor cafe with great crepes. Then we hiked up to Fort Louis. It's small, but the views are spectacular and worth the effort. Taking the bus really gives you a good feel for how it is like living on the island.

Took a taxi to Orient Beach. Bikini Beach restaurant is great! 2 chairs and an umbrella for $20 & beachside food and drink service. It was fantastic! We've been to Orient Beach many times years ago when when there weren't major crowds and it was amazing! We've also been later when the place was extremely crowded and it was just too much. This time it was perfect! Not overcrowded it all.

We went to the public beach near the port. Would definitely recommend going on an excursion or to a different beach. Literally constant locals walking by trying to get you to buy something or get a massage. Didn't go 5 minutes without being solicited. If not for that it would have been a great beach, but the water wasn't clear enough to snorkel, which is what my son and I were really wanting to do.
