If I never go back here it would be too soon. People were not friendly at all. Not accommodating to tourists.

I went snorkeling here. There were far fewer fish than in Bonaire. However, on the first stop we were able to enter the entrance to a cave which was full of bats. The ocean floor was much different than Bonaire which made it very interesting. On the second stop I was able to follow a sea turtle for about 10 minutes. The turtle did not seem to be afraid of snorkelers.

We stayed in Martinique for several days before the cruise. The diving here is excellent. The area where the ship docks around Fort de France is not very desirable, but other parts of the island are beautiful!

You know if you're bringing in U.S. tours you should put down US prices and be able to give change and US currency not very inviting at all

We planned on staying on the ship based on the reviews. We ended up exploring a bit. Beautiful island! I would not stay on the ship! We wish we went to the beach, next time. A lot of the shops do accept us currency or euros. Getting off the ship most everyone I ran into spoke English. Not at bad as people say.

On April 10th 2019 we ported for our first visit to Martinique. We had scheduled online in advance to do a 6 hr tour of the north part of the island with Thomas at Taxi Norden - Vincent. He is a very personable English Speaking Guide, which was important to us as Martinique is a French island & we wanted to be able to understand what we were seeing. His email is taxi.norden.vincent@gmail.com. He also has a very nice website which describes the 4 different tours he offers. He picked us up at the end of the pier in Fort de France & we loaded into a nice mercedes van. Our tour group was 6 folks, & the van will hold 8. We visited : Sacre Coeur of Balta Church, drove through a beautiful rain forest on the way to Saut du Gendarme waterfall , Domaine d’Emaraude Botanical Garden , DePaz Rum Distillery , Mount Pelee Volcano , St Pierre ( former capital before the 1902 eruption ) & a food stop at a black sand beach . Then we made the drive back to port. Thomas was very cognizant of watching the time so we returned to port in time to catch the Crown Princess. While we were taking a short break at the waterfall , Thomas made the trip more personal by providing some homemade pastries that were wonderful. He also had cold water & juice. The charge for the 6 hr tour was $85 US per person. Thomas accepts Euros , USD , & credit card payments. I highly recommend Thomas of Taxi Norden - Vincent. We will use Thomas services again on our next visit to Martinique & try the South Island Tour 😎

TAXI NORDEN VINCENT I was ultimately drawn to TAXI NORDEN VINCENT for various reasons. First being tours available, how they were set up, time spent on them, and the places visited. I knew I didn't just want to wonder around the port city & heard the island was gorgeous. Second being the price ($50/pp) which was very comparable to other tours in Martinique (including a private gentleman another cruise critic recommended). Third, was the fact that this is an English speaking tour in a dominantly French speaking island. But what sealed the deal for me was the correspondence I had with Thomas. He responded quickly, gave me options and was upfront with number of people in each group (I didn't even have to ask). He patiently answered all of my crazy questions in each email I sent and had a sense of humor in the process. I am excited to visit all the key places in the 4 hours we will spend in this port. Just google "TAXI NORDEN VINCENT in Martinique" to find him. There might still be space available!"

Again they prefer Euros and an exchange hut was at the end of the pier. There was also a small market there and they had items marked in Euros and dollars. There were dancers and local reenactors in the village square, a parade by the elementary school ( they were so cute), and a busy shopping “downtown” area. Much more affluent than Guadeloupe
