To be clear, Saguenay is NOT a city. It is an AREA that is comprised of several small communities. The Fjord is too narrow for the large ship to dock in the largest community (Chiquotimi), so it docks further south at La Baie. There is very little to do or see in La Baie except for a somewhat interesting museum dealing with the creation of Fjords. There is a bus (school busses are used for shuttles in most of these ports) that can take you into Chiquotimi. There are a few nice shops and restaurants there, along with a beautiful walkway along the main river.

Small towns nestled together and only accessible to smaller ships navigating in and out of the fjords. There is a long waterfront paved path that connects a few points of interest to the port, but it would be better traveled on bike due to distances between attractions and points of significance. We did a local artisan tour of an Alpaca Farm, Cheese Factory, and Handmade Glass Artisan that gave us a deeper appreciation for the local craftsmanship and were very enjoyable- sites that would have been a challenge to reach or recognize as significant alone.

The port is not that interesting and due to hurricane Fiona, PEI, was still closed to ships so we spent two days here. The locals were delightful and welcoming. And the sail out the fjord in daylight was spectacular. Just not a lot to do while in port.

Really enjoyed the port! It was beautiful and our guide was excellent! However, I would rethink using school buses to transport to the National Park. Adults riding in school buses was very uncomfortable.

Really liked Saguenay. Friendly people, took a helicopter ride to overlook the fjords and the river. Then took a craft tour by bus going to glass blowing shop and cheese factory.
