Beautiful however the port stay was an hour short

Very fun tram, beautiful views, neat shops. We didn’t eat there but heard a few compliments on local crab place.

This is a small town with less then 200 people. Very little to see and do if you plan to self explore. Unless you have something booked you'll see everything this port has to offer in less then 90 minutes. If you're thinking about staying on board at one of your port days in Alaska I'd put this at the top of your list.

Nice area. We just rode the free tram a couple of times to entertain our son. Not much going on there if you're not on an excursion.

I really enjoyed Hoonah. The ratio of bears to humans (4:1) kept me from hiking the woods but that did not stop me from taking the 3 mile RT walk to town and back to the ship on sidewalks. The Zipline looked fun but not for me - I think it went up for about a mile. There were tribal dances, local food options and we saw someone carving a totem pole. This was definitely a favorite stop and I enjoyed it without having to pay for an excursion. Also the kayaking seemed fun. I would do this if I returned here which is highly likely.

We only walked around and road the gondola up to the top for $50. Wouldn’t do it again. We heard people had great luck with whale watching out of here.

Quaint small place but very beautiful. We took the shuttle that takes you around town. The driver did an amazing job narrating details about her community. She made the experience well worth it!!

Too short of time at port

I was an interesting stop. There was some potential but activities seemed a little limited. There were two tram rides one paid and one unpaid, a zip line ride that was only accessible via the paid tram ($50 all day pass per person for the tram ride but not sure the cost of the zip line), hiking and beach walking, a ropes course that looked fun but was closed for maintenance, a self-tour of a fish cannery, some shops and restaurants, and a few our minor activities that I don't quite remember. All in all it struck me as a northern version of Royal Carribean's Cococay exclusive stop in the carribean. It's not quite the same experience yet but it has potential to be a fun destination when a few more activities are added and everything else is open
