A rainy day, the only one we had on our trip. After checking out the shops around the cruise port we walked into Hoonah, 3 miles round trip. Or you could pay five bucks for a shuttle to and from if you like. We like to get our steps if you haven't guessed. Hoonah had a few shops and some native folks carving a totem pole, which was awesome. They had a nice conversation with the folks that were watching them about their craft, and we felt very welcome in the town. There's also the gondolas and the zipline at the cruise port itself if you like that sort of thing. Pricey though be prepared to part with some moolah.

The Whale Watching and Seafood Fest excursion was a bust and disjointed. We took the tram to the other side of the port where we quickly whisked to a tent area in the rain to eat a crab, shrimp oyster, and mussel boil. I am allergic to shrimp so I notified the NCL host and was offered a refund. I took a quick walk around and then returned to the ship. I spent most of the day in the SPA until dinner.

Favorite port on the whole cruise. Icy Strait was mostly nature...beaches, whales, woods, eagles, etc. Again, it felt like what you want Alaska to be. The Gondola ride to the top of the adjacent mountain was insanely high. Glad I did it...but couldnt pay me enough to do it again !

Didn't get to see much of the area, our excursion took most of the port time. Had time to walk through the shops when we got back from whale watching, but nothing else.

It has really grown since the last time we were there 12 years ago. Prices on items seemed high compared to other ports.
