Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska Port Reviews

Very nice port. We were a little bummed that we could not go to Scagway as originally planned. Had a Yukon rail excursion planned that we were really looking forward to. But, not Royal's fault. The Scagway port had too much construction going on to make it feasible for a stop.

We did the whale-watching tour and it was great -- saw lots of humpbacks!

Hoonah was not worth the visit. Gondola up the mountain was nice but sort of pricey.

Touristy

Had a cruise sponsored excursion of whale watching and land based bear sighting. Spotted numerous humpback whales, and had one literally breach surface 50 feet from our boat. Incredible video made. Managed to spot one coastal brown bear in the stream near our bear sighting trail

We loved Hoonah. You interacted with locals who could really educate you about living in Alaska.

Did a private boat excursion with Hooked Adventures. Captain Josh was great we all had a fabulous time!! Definitely a must do!!

Very accommodating. Excursion was very informative.

Think indian tribe mixed with tourist trap.

I am not sure why this exists as a cruise port.
