Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska Port Reviews

This port was very wooded and high. We took the Whale Watching tour and got to see around a dozen whales. Totally awesome!

The Whale watching excursion was amazing, we saw quite a few humpback whales, even with the rain.

The lifts weren't running and the only thing to do here was to zipline. There were a few shops but this felt like a waste of a stop. It was nice to get off the boat but there was really nothing to see or do here.

Walked around the town.

We followed some recommendations found online and booked a whale watching tour through an exceptional family run tour boat guide named Glacier Winds. I’d strongly encourage seeking them out.

A very small town with not much going on except shopping.

Liked this port and we just got on the local bus and went into Hoonah and explored and shopped. It was a lot of fun. At the port itself there isn't a lot to do but there are cable cars and zip lining there.

No excursion. Walked to town of Hoonah. Saw probably 50 eagles sitting on a pier. Also saw huge brown bear in the distance! Saw totem pole carvers!

ZIPline was ZIPPYYYY!!! My first experience and it was fantastic! I would do it again!

Fun little port. Only stayed a short time.
