Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska Port Reviews

Our excursion was canceled so we did our own walking tour…which was even better! We saw hundreds of starfish in the water, walked a beautiful scenic path along the coast, and caught a free ride on the gondola. Weather was spectacular!

Booked the Hoonah Whale Tour thru Alaska Shore Excursions. Booking was easy, price was less and the smaller boat with max of 12 guests was perfect. Tour ticket had excellent directions and meeting point was at the cruise port pier.

The tribal dance was very interesting. Unfortunately the weather was misty rain and cloudy, so no viewing from the top of the gondola ride.

An excursion is required at this port.

We dud a whale watching excursion thru Royal. The boat was really nice and we saw plenty of whales.

Not much here and had some difficulty trying to figure out where to go. Friendly people.

I like the free ride on grandola although I didn't see the sign right away. We took the bus to Hoonah, but not much to do/see there.

I think this port/stop could be skipped - did not feel that we needed to be at this port for 12 hours - some other better stops/ports were cut short on time and this port was 12 hours when there wasn't much to do here.

Very rainy and too short. The restaurant had a special event so we couldn’t eat there.

Little community , first time here and loved it We did see more than ten humpbacks from the beach, and while walking . They were very Close that we could hear them “singing “ We also had the pleasure to talk and watch totem being made
