Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska Port Reviews

Great whale watching on tour, on the deck of the grill, and outside our balcony. Unfortunately, we didn't go into town.

Whale watch was not good. Tour guide was awful

I had heard mixed reviews on this port. We took the tram ride to the top of the mountain and we loved the ride. We walked around the area ate lunch off the ship and all in all had a good time. I will agree that the length of time at this port is a bit longer than it needed to be. This could be a 6-7hour stop versus a 12hour stop.

Beautiful views and port staff so welcoming.

Small area that is built to cater to the cruise ships. You can take the green gondola into town for free and walk around or do an excursion. I checked out the town for about an hour and then took the red gondola up to the top to take in the views and walk the trail.

Nice town. We did the "Spaski River Wildlife and Bear Search" which consisted of an easy walk to a lovely spot by the river where we could take in the beauty of Alaska in a calm setting.

Had an awesome time beautiful place first time my two girls had Dungeness crap.

Enjoyed a beautiful sunny day while strolling to the town of Hoonah

I LOVED this port - very simple, rustic and easy. We did not do the zip line due to the expense though. If we had known a little more earlier - like that it was a seat instead of a typical zipline, we might have saved for it.
