Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska Port Reviews

This spot reminded me of a internal cruise line designed port of stay; it was ok, but little to experience or accomplish.

Didn't take an excursion but visit it. The ride was free we got on to visit stuff.

Needs more restaurants

Not much to do in here except an excursion taking Gondola to the top and a tram travel through the jungle. You only have less than four hours here, which means you don't really get a chance of seeing Hoonah

This place is beyond frustrating. There are 3 levels of the island, the green gondola is free to everyone, it takes you to level 2 of the island to the Red Gondola, this costs money to get you to level 3 to do the actual excursions and zip line. The excursion we did, guided tour of the forest, was nice but not $115 nice. Definitely had a better experience walking around after the excursion.

If you want to eat crab , try the crab shack it is a small restaurant/ pub with reasonable prices compared to Juneau and Ketchikan Paid to travel to peak on gondola , unfortunately wet and foggy not worth the $50 cost

Such a pity it rained so couldn’t really enjoy the gondola but we saw whales as we walked back to the ship so all wasn’t lost!
