Been to Alaska on a cruise three times. Personally I like Princess. They do a wonderful job along with the land tours which I also recommend.

I've been on both Holland America and Carnival. Glacier Bay was better than Fjord s and really liked Icy Stait Point. So itinerary would be the deciding factor for me.

I would highly recommend NCL Encore best food and ship layout that I have experienced!

I've been 3 times with Holland America. I like the availability of naturalist on the ship which give you an idea of what you are seeing along the way.The excursions are of high caliber also.

Try to get a cruise with both Icy Straits and Glacier Bay. These are my favourite sites in Southeast Alaska, with Hubbard glacier a close third. As for cruise lines, I’ve been to Alaska on Princess, NCL, Holland America, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. Choose the cruise line that best fits you. Each one caters to different types of cruisers. I have heard the best for outdoors is Nat Geo cruises - more expensive but great for nature experiences.

You can’t go wrong with Princess for an Alaskan cruise if you want to enjoy the majestic scenery and wildlife.

The seven day one trip of Seattle is good. For the more adventurous and mostly the same ports but a bit more is the 7 day Vancouver to Whittier (or the reverse). For even more adventures, combine the Whittier trip with a several day Alaska land trip to perhaps Denali. I have only done Princess and Holland to Alaska. (currently doing 14 days on Holland from Vancouver to Whittier and back). Of the two lines, Princess has more entertainment and good food, Holland has much less entertainment and better food. We are partial to Princess. You also have other lines like Carnival, cheaper, food ok, much partying.
