Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska Port Q&A

4.6
Hi, just packing for our Alaska cruise in 12 days time. Travel rep say a ‘formal night’ dress code required for sea days. Holland America make no mention of this? Does any recent traveller have an answer to this please? Are there any ‘formal nights’ or not? Thanks in anticipation 👌

Found this online (part 2 of 2): While you will see the occasional tuxedo, you will more likely see a sport coat, dress shirt and dress slacks, or, a business suit (with and without neckties) on the gentlemen. For the ladies, appropriate cocktail attire, evening gowns, elegant skirts, pantsuits and blouses are suggested.

Found this online (part 1 of 2): Depending on the length of the cruise on Holland America, one or more nights will be a Cruise Elegant. Years ago, "Formal Nights" on cruises meant a pre-cruise trip to the tuxedo rental shop, or, shopping for a fancy cocktail dress or evening gown.

For the ladies, a really pretty top and nice black slacks are considered very dressy; you don't have to wear an elegant gown anymore. Be comfortable and enjoy yourself!

Don't forget to pack something for the Orange Party. Not sure what night that is but it's a lot of fun

Avoid shorts and T shirt and dress how you would go out to dinner for a special family occasion. And don't worry what other passengers are wearing. have a great, relaxing time with plenty of spectacular memories thrown in.

Holland America is having dressy nights (no need for ties/jacket). Long pants are required for men in the main dining rooms.Bring something orange to wear for a special celebration!

We were told they weren't having formal nights since covid - but not true! We're currently cruising with Holland America! Husband was happy he didn't bring a tie and jacket!
