We've been to Alaska 3 times. Twice during the time you're referring to. What I did was Google the weather forecast about 3 - 7 days before we left. As far as excursions. Try the Mendenhall & Salmon Bake ( if you like salmon ) in Juneau. The Lumber Jack Snow in Ketchikan was fun.

When cruising Alaska think daily “layering” of your clothing to meet ever changing weather conditions. We’ve cruised there three times before and experienced snow in July with below freezing temperatures and short sleeve weather approaching 80 degrees. As your cruise approaches follow weather forecasts for your port towns and dress accordingly. For “normal” summer weather, you’ll want a a waterproof outer layer with room underneath to wear a fleece and / or down middle layer over a cotton long sleeved tee-shirt. Blue jeans or similar canvas pants, warm socks, and waterproof shoes with a good grip sole will round out your wardrobe. Gloves and a warm hat may also be necessary in the morning hours. As for recommended excursions, one of our favorites was a whale watching cruise in Auke Bay (Juneau). Have a great cruise. Alaska is wonderful!

Dress in layers and have a raincoat. Weather is unpredictable any time of year in Alaska. Scenery is magnificent. I hope you see lots of wildlife!

After several Alaska cruises, my word of advice is "waterport". I pack waterproof shoes for sure, waterproof pants (easy to find on Amazon)..waterproof socks..etc. I have been so happy to have them so many times. Rain is usually part of your experience.

My wife and I enjoyed Harv and Marv's whale watching excursion. It's not offered through the cruise line, but it's small group and they do an excellent job.

We were on the glacier cruise (CELEBRITY) in August 2023. It was beautiful weather most of the time (high 60s). It was a little cool and foggy only 1 morning. We rode the white pass train which was wonderful.

We did a wildlife boat tour in Ketchikan and really enjoyed it - beautiful scenery and saw a lot of wildlife. Whale watching in Juneau was phenomenal. We cruised in mid-July. Layering is definitely key - thermal base layer, sweatshirt/hoodie, waterproof top layer, carry some lightweight gloves, warm sock, water resistant shoes.
