Majesty of the Seas

February 2015 - 4 Night Bahamas (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Majesty of the Seas

Nice getaway!

Unfortunately weather was a huge factor in this cruise experience.  Because of WIND the ship was unable to dock at Coco Bay and at Key West.  So for a 4 day cruise, not being able to get into 2 ports was very disappointing. Apparently this happens often enough at Coco Bay that the ship has already planned alternative activities to entertain the cruise goers.  To Royal Carribean's credit, the activities are well-planned, fun and throughout the day.  However, if this is something that happens enough, I feel it may be time to retire this ship and use a larger vessel.

As far as the ship itself, it's on the small side.  This is more noticeable when you are docked in ports beside others. And it's a little dated as far as decor. Poolside seating wasn't adequate for the # of people on ship.  Go to the pool early and save yourself a chair.

The staff was fabulous.  You will want for nothing.  My room was tended to 3 times per day.  The waitstaff were friendly and accomodating.  The entertainment was fun-trivia, bingo, line dancing, quest, wine tasting, art auction, and their own "flea market"..

Food was good but the portions at the evening meal were small.  Don't know if you could ask for seconds but most people at my table did room service later in the evening because they were hungry.  However, the buffets were good and had many choices.  Healthy choices too.

Beverages were expensive.  The drink packages are per day and over the top for someone who just has an occasional drink. So although my beverage bills were not high,  $10.00 for a mixed drink, $5.00 for water and soda, are somewhat pricey.

All in all the cruise was fun.  It was a chance to relax, be waited on for a few days, have someone cook and clean for me, and be entertained.  I will most likely try cruising again.
