Adventure of the Seas

August 2015 - 7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip) Cruise on Adventure of the Seas

Not kid friendly

We were a party of 11 (7 adults, 2 six yr olds, 1 1/2 & 7 mos old). Even though the ship was beautiful and most of the service was good, the way the infants were treated put a damper on everyone's vacation. It is obvious the 7 month old and the 1 1/2 yr old could not utilize any of the services available, but they were charged the same fare as an adult plus the gratuities. They were not even allowed to put their feet in the pool water to cool off. So basically they were charged for breathing the air in the ship. Why not have a little kiddie section just for infants so they can sit and splash in the water and have fun? And why not charge them a percentage of the cost or no charge at all if under 1 or 2? They got nothing at all out of the trip except added cost.

Another incident that did not go over well was when the 6 yr old was playing the kids bingo. The first 2 games had 2 winners each and both winners won prizes each time. The third game was won by a woman and the 6 yr old child. The prize was awarded to the woman and the 6 yr old was not recognized. He started crying because he could not understand why he had won too but he didn't get a prize, even though all the winners in the previous games had won something. His mother had to talk to the game coordinator who still refused to award the child a little prize. Finally she presented him with a water bottle after the child's mother tried to show her the unfairness of it all, especially when the woman who won turned around and presented her prize to another child.
