The enjoyable Marina

We loved the food and service and the Mediterranean itinerary. The only negative was the internet connections. You were routinely thrown off and we couldn’t even load our small local newspaper. Even getting our email was an arduous process.

Carnival Dream

January 2019 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (New Orleans Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Dream

Enjoyed our week on the Dream but probably would choose a smaller ship next time. Lines getting on and off the boat were lengthy. There were lines everywhere. Our cabin was well taken care of. The ship excursions were great, although cave tubing in Belize we encountered lots of lines and waiting . Dining room food was ok; our waiters were great. There was lots to do but crowds everywhere. Most venues were always packed. My favorite part was deck 5 where you could walk around the entire ship. It was much better than the tiny walking track on 12. The worst part of the ship was the casino because it was always smoky, especially at night.

Zaandam

October 2018 - 16 Night South America Passage (Santiago To Rio De Janeiro) Cruise on Zaandam

I was on the same cruise as gohunter and had a completely different experience. We found the entertainment excellent and the early show was always packed. We even liked the comedian and I don’t really enjoy them most of the time. The lectures on board were excellent. The speakers were not only knowledgeable, but also good and entertaining speakers. I enjoyed the promenade deck for walking and viewing the sights and I thought are shore excursions were good. The staff bent over backwards to please. One morning the captain diverted from course so we could get a good look at an iceberg they had spotted. We also liked the test kitchen series and were never bored during the tip. Most of all, the weather was fantastic allowing us many fabulous photo ops.

Cruise tips

Monte Carlo, Monaco

Loved the hop on, hop off bus. It was very reasonable and you got to see what was available. We also visited the Prince’s car collection. It was well worth the price.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

We took the Angels and Demons tour and loved it. Beware, though, there was a lot of walking. If you have dreamed of walking all over Rome, this is for you. Also, you will enjoy it whether you have read Dan Brown’s book or not, but read the book beforehand if you go.

Limassol, Cyprus

This is the only port we had a truly awful guide. We went to Nicosia which was interesting, but the guide was useless.

Marina

Marina

Book specialty dining as early as possible to get earliest dining times.

Dubai, U.A.E.

Amazing architecture! I wish I had a few more days here.loved the frame and our visit to neighboring Emirates.we stayed at the Palms; it was a real treat.
