Like OGW said it is pretty wide open question. I would say if you are looking for a quieter cruise I would say it would be better to avoid spring break times and pick a time of year when school is in session. That being said I think there are quiet places on most cruises anywhere on the ship.

As far as how much money to bring that depends on what you want to do before, during, and after the cruise. Other than casinos and any tipping you want to do you won't need cash on board because everything goes on your account. If you are flying in a day or 2 before and/or staying around a while after the cruise you will need some cash for that unless you use a card for everything.

Good addition cruisellama

OGW - nailed it. Another question - do you plan to pay tips and residual costs with plastic (credit card account) or cash account? If you set things up on a card, you need less cash. If you settle with a cash account - you need to put pencil to paper and start adding things up.

Well said OGW.

Wow .. some very open questions with not a lot of info.

First I would recommend becoming familiar with what you are looking for. The answer to your questions will depend a lot on how long the cruise is, where you are going, which cruise lines you are on and what your goals and expectations are. There are a number of good articles under Advise on the top menu bar which can help you get started. Once you have some idea of answers to the above then you can start to get some answers to your questions.

The cost of a cruise can vary greatly as can what you need to bring for money. This is all based on what you want to spend and what you want to do. Some cruise lines offer all inclusive and some are very a la carte in their charges. Once on board with most cruise lines you do not need to spend anything extra but many offer enhancements at extra charges.

A quiet place or cruise can be affected by the choice of cruise lines and the demographic that each appeals to. For quiet I would think Celebrity, HAL, Princess would be some cruise lines worth looking at.
