White Pass Summit Excursion via Haines

7 Night Alaska Inside Passage from Vancouver, British Columbia

On the cruise planner, Day 5: Haines, there is a “White Pass Summit Excursion via Haines” tour. Unfortunately, it is SOLD OUT. Is there any way we can do this on our own? Our ports of call include Sitka, Juneau, Haines, and Ketchikan Alaska. Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for the reply! The problem is our itinerary DOES NOT include Skagway Crying. I looked more into it.. it seems we would have to coordinate a ferry ride over to Skagway that aligns with the railway schedule. I think we may be out of luck. I am so sad about that Sad

I'm not sure I understand your problem. You most certainly can make reservations direct with the "railroad"...made that tour several times. highlight of any Alaska trip as far as Im concerned..and thats saying something....they let you ride between the cars if thats your thing...never took so many pics in my life..and I'm not a picture taker...but i digress.. If your itinerary includes Skagway, whether they dock and then ferry (?) hmmm....I think you need to call the cruise line or better yet call the RR and ASK them that instead of guessing...it makes a difference because the train "depot" is only a short walk from the pier in Skagway.....just follow the crowd....after rereading your post, its possible thats NOT the "tour" you want, if so.....I for one wouldn't even consider "renting a car" ANYWHERE just to get to a tour...This WPYRR is the ONE ride I WOULD do on my own, direct...they're extremely reliable...no issues about "getting back to the ship"...and frankly, no tour you book on your own is worth that risk...good luck...luv to know how you made out.....

Thank you so much! I will definitely look into this. My only concern is the commute to and from Skagway and the timing. Looks like the cruise ship has a ferry for the excursion. Can we maybe rent a car and drive there?

Sorry for the duplicate reply
