Travel Insurance

I live in New York State, and some cruise lines, including Carnival, do not offer travel insurance to those of us who live here and want to cruise on their ships.

Where is the best place to find travel insurance? We are planning a trip to the British Isles, and since we will be in another country, I want to make sure we are covered if something happens.

Thank you,

Goingseanile.

We travel to Asia twice a year, staying between 1 and 2 months each time. In the past few years, I've started buying travel insurance in case the unexpected happens. I use a website called travelinsurance dot com, which offers policies from a number of insurance companies. Policies typically include coverage for trip cancellation, delays and lost/late luggage in addition to medical and repatriation coverage. The price is generally based upon your age, the length of the trip, and the total of non-refundable expenses for the trip which you need to provide when getting an instant quote. I haven't checked it for a cruise, but the cost has been very reasonable for our longer trips, starting around $150 for full coverage.

Thank you, I never thought about our home owner insurance, I will do that next week.
I am cruising in Jan on the Norwegion and the insurance was available through that company.

Good question! I'm sure others will have their favorites, but I always recommend checking with your home owners/auto insurance. Sometimes you can get a good plan a a reasonable rate because you are bundling.
