Perfect answer Cruisellama!

Normally you need to call the line directly - not all lines have a true "single" cabin rate. Cabins are per person (pp) with duel occupancy assumed. So a rule of thumb - you pay for 2x meaning you're paying for 2 people (even as a single). Sometimes you might get 1.5 or 1.7 x the pp rate. Some lines with newer ships have single studios that do provide a true single occupancy rate. Newer NCL and RCL Oasis * Quantum class ships. Maybe others too. Ship revenue is planned on filling as many "berts" or beds - so they would lose $$ if you could occupy a 2 or more person cabin an pay only as a single.
