ShipMate and Roll Calls

I find it frustrating that people go out of their way to join a site, put in all the info for a roll call, and then don't get involved in the chat. I'm booked on a cruise that is currently 300+ days out. It's a 2 week TA on RCCL. Is anyone else in the chat area ? No. There are about 7 people on the roll call, but no one wants to get involved. Hey, I'm not the most outgoing person out there, but we're gonna be on a ship for two weeks. Maybe we make plans to meet for coffee or something ?

Sorry for the rant

You can find the roll calls under the "More" menu at the top, or simply click here: http://cruiseline.com/rollcall

We are working on ways to make roll calls more active! Stay tuned for more news on this.

I am usually quite active on roll calls. My next two cruises are not in the data base so there are no roll calls for them. One is a river cruise through France and the other is on a Paddle wheeler. I always attend the Meet & Greets, tool. One time I hosted a Cabin Crawl. Gloria

Perhaps it's because you can't FIND a Roll Call! I've been looking all over the site and still can't find them! Only posts like this complaining about the lack of interest or interaction. I say make the, easier to find! Give them a heading / tab of their own like CC does!

My cruise in April has about 20 on the roll call, and no one, other than me, in the chat board.

maybe no one wants to chat because it's me ? Hmmm.

Yeah, overlooked or just not understood. Since it comes up blank (if no one has posted yet) I wonder if people just don’t “get” that they can post there. Then they pick the Ship Chat tab, see other posts and just add to it. Maybe a “starter post” in the date tab would help? Something like “Start a chat about YOUR cruise!”?

Overlooked ?

Have you guys seen the tabs at the top of the Chat area? Do you think this is being overlooked?

I’ve noticed that a lot of folks don’t seem to understand that they can chat about their specific cruise under the sailing date so every sailing ends up all jumbled under Ship Chat making it hard to find the posts about any particular cruise. I know there’s not a lot of space, but maybe adding something like “Chat about your cruise on” before the date and making the other one “General Ship Chat” would help.

We used the deck maps a little and the port info a lot on our last cruise, so the app definitely helped us out!

It's not the moderators, it's the people. It has to be. The word CHAT is right up there next to ROLL CALL. unless of course they all think this is a rescue site for French cats.

We're working on ways to better facilitate the descussion. It's likely your ship mates havent seen your message(s). We plan to make this area more obvious and to help notify users when there's new content in the app. Sorry that it hasn't been more active for you. I'm sure as it approaches, people will join in! Thanks for the feedback!
