Port Cancellations

Hello All!

we just went on our first cruise on the Fantasy with DCL. We had so many changes to our cruise that it was so far from what we book 9 months prior. I expected some changes because of the nature of the vacation and the current pandemic. We booked a cruise with Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Castaway Cay, and Jamaica as our destination. Our itinerary changed a few day prior to, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Castaway Cay, and Nassau.

We were only able to go on one originally booked port excursion, all others were either booked or cancelled. Such a disappointment because we had one kid under 5 not vaccinated so we couldn’t get off the boat unless we were on a booked excursion and we didn’t go to Costa Maya due to weather.

I feel like we paid a lot of money and didn’t get to do much at all and all Disney could say is sorry. Has anyone else experienced this level of disappointment? Is it worth contacting Disney or would that be a lost cause?

Right now we have to go with the flow.

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply.

Thanks for the reply.

Sorry your original ports of call were not what you visited. However, at this time flexibility is the key. The islands do what they feel is in their best interest. If you decide to contact Disney, be sure to make it polite and not angry. The cruise lines are doing the best they can because they want repeat customers.

At this point in time this is pretty well standard cruising. None of the current cruises are going as planned because nothing in the world is currently going as planned. It is unfortunate but a sign of the times and the cruise lines are doing all they can to stay a float "pun always intended".

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointments. Being a DCL fan, I understand your frustrations. Because of the high costs, it's always a hope that things go as advertised when vacationing at anything Disney related.

Unfortunately, it's in the contract that they reserve the right to make itinerary changes if warranted, so I don't think you'll get anywhere with a claim. They will counterclaim that they gave you cruise of the length and number of port calls that was in the contract.

However

I'd still make some noise, especially if you're a Castaway Club Gold or Platinum member. Who knows, you may come away with a modest FCC. While I think that's a long shot, it never hurts to try. I do know if you say nothing, you'll get nothing.
