Pizza cut back

Got off Dream...during cruise naturally ice cream, etc is shut down at midnight....NOW the pizza is shut down at midnight also. They use to shut down at 4 a m now 12 midnight. BUT for a $6 dollar delivery fee you can get a pizza delivered to cabin after 4.MONEY MONEY MONEY. They have a so called midnight buffet and you get pizza there...not a round one, but a square pizza segment that is like cardboard. I just get soup of the night. Carnival gotta to pay for the new ships . They raised the price at steakhouse also. Glad we cruised when we did. Cutting back on cruising now to once a year, enough is enough.

Yeah, your description of the midnight buffet's pizza quality is pretty much the consensus of the articles I've read on the subject, like this one:

As for your "money money money" comment, the sad fact is that between the inflation of the past couple years and the $35 billion dollar hole Carnival dug for themselves due to massive borrowing during the shutdown, their moves are an ongoing effort to survive. They are trying to do this by both bringing on more capacity (ie: newer, bigger ships) and economizing whenever and wherever they can. Unfortunately a business of that size can't find many giant sweeping cost cutting measures (trust me, any that could be done have already been done). Now it's just a million little things that will be done to save a buck. Unfortunately, even though they are trying to thread a needle by implementing cutbacks and efficiencies, yet keep providing a product we'll enjoy, those are the things that irritate us the most.

The only recourse we have is to complain, which may (or may not) force a reversal. Or we could do what you're planning to do (cruise less, or not at all). That will probably be the more effective way to get them to re-open the pizzeria. But we'll end up paying for it anyway in the form of higher cruise fares.

My prediction: The current arrangement will stay, but they'll attempt to improve the quality of the pizza offered at the midnight buffet.

My plan: If I want late night pizza on a Carnival ship, I'll make sure I'm in line at the Pizzeria Del Capitano or Pizza Pirate before 11:30 PM............... Who am I kidding, I'm normally sound asleep by then.

Wow….first no Andes mints on my pillow, now no pizza? What’s next? No art auction

Thanks for sharing the quality the pizza that's available late at night. I think Carnival was "trying" to answer the complaint that "only" pizza was available after midnight. Sadly, it looks like they missed the mark.
