It’s that time again

Welcome to New York City. It’s the holiday season and if you’re picking up a cruise, you may be coming in a few days ahead and taking in the sights. The tree at Rock Center, Times Square, etc. Sadly, it’s time again to warn you about the grinches that can ruin your vacation before you even board your ship.
Right now, the pick pockets are having a field day. Big roomy pockets on coats and careless people are a bad combination. People please, put your valuables in a front pocket. Not a backpack. Not your coat pocket, even if it zippers. Don’t believe me ? Set up a dummy wallet and put it in your coat pocket. Don’t flash your cash. Don’t look like a tourist. If you’re walking around and need directions, ask a cop, or a construction worker. Not just anyone on the street. Just remember to say thank you. My wife knows to go up to a construction worker and say hi, I wonder if you can help me, my husband is an operating engineer ( or electrician ) and always says ask one of you guys for help.
Don’t eat anything off a food cart. It may smell good, but your common stomachs aren’t trained for food truck food. You have no resistance built up. Likewise, don’t buy water from some guy on a corner. Go into a deli or other store.
Those t shirts that sell for $10 for 4, just be prepared to only wear them once. Wash them and they become a onesie. Besides, no one back home cares that you ❤️ NY.
Not sure what Pier 88 charges to park these days ( last time I paid $40 / day ) but it’s worth the convenience when you get back to port. If you need a taxi, there is a que right across the street. Only take a yellow cab unless you arranged for a service.

Thats all for now kiddies. Welcome to my city. Enjoy your stay but be safe.

Thanks good info!

The parking at the terminal is still $40 per night and if 10 nights or more you buy a month pass $400. Just did a 10 night from there in Sept.

Thanks for reminding us to be vigilant when visiting your city (good advice for ANY big city). Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Or if you’d rather “season greetings”.
