If you're going to leave the ship to take tours, investigate the reviews which can be found on everybody's website...they'll even include negatives...you'll have to pay for them ASA you see one you like. but its considerably easier letting your fingers do the shopping instead of lining up at the excursion desk onboard with 4-500 of your newest closest friends trying to help you decide...if you stay with ship "sponsored" tours, you'll never have to worry about problems getting back to the ship, and discovering it ain't there...

Oh yeh, whatever you're packing, you're bringing way too much..if you're a woman, its not enough..if you're a man, you don't get a vote...so do what everyone else did when they started...empty the closets and most of the drawers..you'll learn...and don't forget an extension cord and the phone charger.... as usual, OGW has it right....wander around, relax (remember dinner or show reservations if you need em), enjoy, eat/drink way too much like everybody does, especially the folks who deny it heheheheh

Enjoy it and do not try to do everything. Go exploring and search out the ship. There is lots to see and do. Just enjoy it.

Thanks for reply, hopefully will have nice quiet neighbours and we can enjoy the viewsHappy

Any useful tips for first cruise?

Agree with OGW completely...now some balconies themselves also have a type of doorway to the next door balcony, but usually they won't open them. I have heard stories that sometimes stewards or maintenance will. But I believe you mean an interconnecting door to the next stateroom, similar to what you might find in a motel. Not to worry...smoking is verboten just about everywhere on board nowadays (especially cabins...and they MEAN IT), with a couple of exceptions. Noise...well, if its THAT noisy next door, having an interconnecting door won't really matter. They're locked, and neither you nor the folks next door can open them. I'm sure the stewards can. Besides, don't be shy, you won't see the noisy so and so's ever again....call security!!...We get specific balconies in specific locations, depending on the ship (and not always aft facing) but I will tell you those aft balconies provide a spectacular view...Somehow "almost" nothing compares to watching that wake or an assortment of ports/skylines disappear into the horizon...its almost hypnotic. ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!!...(and welcome to our addiction therapy center)

Usually it does not make much of a difference unless you have noisy neighbours but you would then hear them anyway. Once we had an interconnected or adjoining cabin and the other side of the door was a heavy smoker and the smell of the smoke would filter through the door.

Usually not a problem but if it can be avoided I prefer to. But it is not a show stopper.
